Let’s Get Acquainted

My name is Annija Kanska, and I’m the creator of the mugs and the Cerannic brand.I truly believe that with a mug, we can gift a little moment of peace in the rush of everyday life.

The Story

At the heart of Cerannic lies the idea of a slow living.

My own need for a slower pace of life began in January 2018, when almost at the same time as I found out I was expecting my second child, I also learned that there was a tumor growing inside me. “Most likely benign,” the doctors said — but it was still a tumor, and there was still uncertainty. That period of “maybe” lasted for two long years. After that, my career in advertising — the endless campaigns, deadlines, and constant stress — no longer matched the values I had discovered.

Around the same time, the pandemic began. That was when I first picked up a lump of clay. The feeling was meditative — just me and the material. Clay demanded presence: I had to shape it here and now, because later it would dry, and the chance would be gone. After a few months of working with clay, I discovered porcelain. And suddenly, I felt something I had never experienced before — as if I had finally found my true place.

Working with porcelain requires calmness. Any rushed movement will show in the final piece — the vessel will break. Porcelain is both delicate and strong at once. A porcelain mug demands care and attention; it can’t simply be tossed into the sink or dishwasher without thought.

Today, I create mugs and tableware with the hope that they bring a little ritual of peace into everyday life — a slow moment with your morning coffee or evening tea.

With love,
Annija
